Although not truly the first event at Glen Arden Speedway, this was the biggest, and really the first competitive event here.

We started the day at 1PM by running some O-scale Tjets! The MaxTrax has lanes that are spaced wider apart, so that you can run the larger Tjets side-by-side - at least on the straights - it still gets tight in the hairpins!

With the entertainment out of the way, we ran 2 race events, the first being a VHORS-style event, and the second was a "24 minutes of LeMans" race for stock lighted Tjets.

The first race was run as a round-robin, with 2-minute heats:

A few racers had to leave after the first race, but the 8 that stayed ran a lighted Tjet "24 Minutes of Lemans". We've run this race format at New Jersey Nostalgia Hobby for years. In a nutshell, each driver runs a 6 minute heat in each of the 4 lanes (24 minutes total). For each heat, we start in the "daylight", and then 1.5 minutes into the heat, the lights are dimmed to near-total-darkness. We then run 3 minutes in the dark (except for the lights on the cars, of course) and finally, for the last 1.5 minutes of the heat, the lights come back up. The idea is to simulate the daylight-nighttime-daylight effect of running a 24-hour endurance race.

Big thanks to Joe Corea, owner of New Jersey Nostalgia Hobby, for buying a round of Pizza for all in between races!

Most of all, thanks to my wife Nancy for her hard work on the lap counter modules and for providing us with food and drink throughout the day!
