There seems to be an abundance of VHORS races leading up to the Shootout this year - which is a good thing - so I'm going to add one more...

Sunday, October 9th, is the weekend before the Shootout, and I am hosting a race on my MaxTrack that day. This will give you one more event to "tune-up" before the shootout. My track is located in Howell, NJ. Doors will open at 8AM, racing will start at 10AM. SS first, classic second.

As some of you know, I held a race in April that used VHORS-rules, but required Mini Cooper bodies. Space is very limited at my track, and with just 15 racers, it was a tight squeeze. I just don't have the spacious basement that some other tracks have...

This time I'm following a different "theme"...

You all know about hurricane Katrina. My wife has relatives that lived in New Orleans. 7 of them got out early and went to stay with other relatives in Texas. 1 stayed behind to ride it out, but evacuated after a few days. Their house was completely submerged. He has since joined the other relatives in TX. That place in TX housed just 2 people before the storm - now there are 10 people living there. Try to imagine if you had 8 relatives living with you for a while, and what that would do to your bills.

Another relative is now living in a Red Cross shelter in Tennessee; Her father, sister, brother and brother's wife did not survive the flood.

So for this race on October 9th, instead of the customary race fee, I will be asking for a $10 donation which will go directly to my wife's relatives. This is not a tax-deductable donation, it wont be going to the Red Cross or any other relief fund - we'll be sending the money right to people that have lost nearly everything.

I realize that not everyone will be comfortable with this idea. I'll understand if you choose not to come.

I will supply food and drinks for the day - just bring your race case...

Please RSVP to me if you plan on coming. As I said, space is limited here. Rather than have lots of uncomfortable guys with no place to pit, I'm cutting this off at 12 racers - and I'm reserving the first 4 spots for my own team members because we really, really need the practice... (OK, well 3 of us do anyhow...)
